Hidden Experiences

We can help you enjoy all that Stari Grad and Hvar Island have to offer. Here are just a few ideas to get you started – all perfect for small or large groups.

Please let us know if you have any budgetary requirements, so that we can tailor your experiences accordingly.

Arrivals & Departures

Go by boat

There’s no airport on Hvar, so getting here requires a bit of boating. The standard options are by ferry or catamaran, but if you’d rather arrive into Stari Grad by speedboat, we can arrange this from Split Port or the Airport quay.

Getting here

The details, sorted

Nothing’s worse than having to do a grocery run on the first day of your holiday. Let us do it for you. Send along a list before your trip and we’ll make sure your fridge is stocked with essentials when you arrive.

Long flight or drive? Just ask us and we’ll have a wine selection chilled for your arrival, or even a hamper of local produce in your suite.

Adventures

On land

Visit Stari Grad's ancient Greek Plains — a UNESCO World Heritage site, take a hike up Glavica Hill for a great sunset view, or visit nearby Jelsa and explore its coastal walk — take your swimsuit for a dip in the water!

If wheels are your thing, then hire a bike and explore the coastline or take a guided ride if you're feeling more adventurous. We can help you plan your bike or hikes routes, or put you in touch with a local tour guide.

By sea

The crystal clear waters of the Adriatic and the quiet coves of the island's coastline make it an excellent playground for water-lovers. For those who like a slow pace, try your hand at stand-up paddle-boarding or sea kayaking. If a faster pace is what you're after, then we'll point you in the direction of motor-boat hire or a sailing day.

If you're just looking for a beautiful place to swim, we'll point you in the direction of the best beaches.

Cocktails

Cocktail masterclasses

Wine is fine, but liquor is quicker. Chris is an award-winning bartender and can run a cocktail masterclass for you in our ground floor lounge space. You will leave with a fabulous knowledge of cocktail history, flavour profiles and how to make the classics as well as a few of Chris’s signature cocktails plus it is great fun.

Food and wine

Local wine pairings

If you love exploring local produce, restaurants and wineries, then Hvar has plenty to keep you occupied. We can arrange a tasting of local wines in your suite or in our ground floor lounge space, complete with food pairings of local produce.

Vineyard visits

Known for aromatic whites and rich, robust reds, the native grape varieties of Dalmatia are a world to explore. In fact, Crljenak Kaštelanski – none other than the Italian Primitivo, a.k.a. Zinfandel in California – is indigenous to the area. Want to extend your palette? We can arrange intimate trips to local producers for a day of festive tasting.

“Amanda and Chris booked us the most wonderful experiences including wine tasting and a day trip to Tiha and organised our water and road taxis; they could not do enough to help.”

Olive oil tours and tastings

The Ionian Greeks started cultivating olives on the Stari Grad plain in the 4th century BC. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they’ve been continuously grown on Hvar for 24 centuries. We have close relationships with local producers, so just ask us to arrange a day trip of learning and tasting for you.

Hampers and picnics

Hvar is ideal for boating day trips, and adventures by car or on foot. And what’s better than taking a picnic of local food and wine with you? Let us take care of the details, whether it’s a simple cooler-packed deli picnic or a fully-stocked hamper.
